Govt failed to save shooting stone victim's life: Malik

KISHTWAR, May 3: Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) Youth President Kishtwar Mohammed Umar Malik today slammed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Divisional administration for their failure in saving life of a 30 year old Marwah youth Ghulam Nabi Akhoon resident of Navapachi Marwah who was hit by a shooting stone on Friday by denying chopper facility to him as a result of which he (Ghulam Nabi) died today.
In a press statement issued today, PDP Youth President Kishtwar said that despite repeated requests by the party top leadership and local PDP leadership to Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar for airlifting the critically injured patient, nothing was done by the government.
He said that death of Marwah youth has put a question mark on the present government and added that both Congress as well as the National Conference are using Marwah people as vote bank.
He said that the people of Marwah were not only denied road in last 65 years, but added that the area is lacking far behind in health and education related fields. He said before April 17th parliament election, both NC and Congress befool the people by hollow promises and said that the death of Ghulam Nabi has exposed both the political parties.
While expressing grief and sorrow over the death of Marwah youth, Umar Malik demanded Rs 5 lakh compensation in favour of kith and kin of the deceased youth.
He also prayed for the eternal peace to the departed soul and place for him in heaven beside courage to brave family to bear this irreparable loss.
