Srinagar, May 14: Terming the Jammu Development Authority's (JDA) anti encroachment drive in Gole Gujral areas as an arbitrary decision, Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) chairman and MLA Khansahib Hakim Mohammad Yasin on Wednesday asked the state government to immediately compensate and rehabilitate the affected families. Questioning the status of thousands of non-state subjects who illegally have occupied thousands of acres of state land, Hakim Yasin in a statement stated, "Nobody dares to touch them. But people from Gujjar community who are state subjects were made shelter less which is highly commendably "It is a well hatched conspiracy of some vested interests to uproot the community," he stated. Urging Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to immediately rehabilitate the victim families, the PDF chairman said, "The Chief Minister should immediately take action against those officials involved in the drive and compensate the affected families." Meanwhile terming the settlement of non-state subjects in the state illegal and against the basic spirit of Article 370 of Indian constitution, he demanded that a committee should be formed to probe how many people from outside the state have been settled in Jammu. |
