| Waffa visits Gole Gujral, demands rehabilitation of evicted families | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 14: State Secretary Peoples Democratic Party Ch Hussain Ali Waffa today visted Gole Gujral and took stock of the situation that has arisen after the eviction of families in a drive of Jammu development Authority (JDA).
Waffa flayed the government action to evict more than a hundred families of nomads from Gole Gujral Jammu without formulating a plan for their alternate rehabilitation. He condemned the action of government in the arbitrary manner has acted at Gole Gujral Jammu burning down the Kullas of nomads and even razing permanent structures to the ground, he said adding that the state cannot escape from its liability to secure the life and property of its citizen, which is paramount in the democratic setup.
Waffa said that since 35 kanals of land out of Khasra No.746 in Gole Gujral area has been identified for providing temporary shelter to the evicted persons including nomad families, the government must not cause any delay and allow the affected families to camp there immediately. |
