Srinagar, May 14: Though Sun appeared briefly, there was still no respite from the cold as maximum and minimum temperatures remained below normal.
A Met department spokesman said there could be light rain or thundershowers at a few places in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
There would be no large change during subsequent four days, he said.
Sun appeared briefly today in the Kashmir valley before going behind the clouds again, resulting in cold.
People could be seen wearing woolen and warm clothes while tourists from plains were seen purchasing warm cloths and shawls besides jackets.
The summer capital, Srinagar, recorded 17.8 degree Celsius maximum temperature, five notches below normal yesterday, spokesman said.
He said the minimum temperature was recorded 8.2 degree, two notches below normal.
There would be partly cloudy sky tomorrow and both maximum and minimum temperatures will remain below normal during the next 24 hours.
