| Protests against detention of youth | | Relatives, family members block road | | Syed Tahir Bukhari
BARAMULLA, May 14: Family members of a youth staged protest demonstration on Srinagar- Muzaffarabad road in north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Wednesday against the continuous detention of their kin. According to sources, family members of Zahoor Ahmad Malla S/O Bashir Ahmad Malla of Mir Sahib Baramulla along with other relatives staged a protest demonstration near Tehsil Chowk in Baramulla. Demanding Malla's immediate release, protestors blocked the Srinagar- Muzaffarabad road halting the traffic beside enforcing partial shutdown for hours together. In the afternoon situation returned to normal in the town after police managed to pacify the protesting family. According to Police officials, Malla was involved in an FIR number 15/2014 of 6 forests Act 379 when police in Boniyar Tehsil arrested him along with 12 Kilograms of banned forest Herbs. Though on April 27 he, was granted bail by court but was rearrested by Baramulla police for his involvement in different cases. At least one dozen of cases are registered against him from 2008 to 2010 in different police stations for his involvement in stone pelting, arason, damaging public property and attack on police personnel said Police official. He is in custody under various section of law including 148.149,332,336,307,427, of RPC. Yes police have slapped public safety act on him for indulging in any illegal activities" said SP Baramulla Mir Suhial. Meanwhile protest broke out in Bandipora town where family of Feroz Ahmad Magray accused that despite being bailed out by the Court, police is not ready to release their son from the custody. The family members along with others supporters staged protest demonstrations in Nowpora Chowk of Bandipora and demanded immediate release of Feroz Ahmed Magray. Eyewitnesses said that scores of people staged a protest in Nowpora Chowk of the town and amid anti-police slogans alleged that police is not honoring the orders of the court and is not willing to release Feroze Ahmed Magray of Wazipora who according to the family is going to marry next month. However a top police has said that youth is involved in different cases of stone-pelting and violence.
