Early Times Report SRINAGAR, May 14: Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) here today sealed a three-storey residential building in Srinagar's Barzulla area for illegally running a poultry farm there. In a press release, Media Relation Officer, SMC, Masrat Yusuf said that a team of the Corporation which was jointly headed by Health Officer, Dr. Shafqat Khan and Chief Enforcement Officer, Nissar Ahmad, inspected the site and sealed it after it was found the poultry farm was set up inside a residential colony at Barzulla. The action was taken in the backdrop of complaints by locals against the illegal farm inside the residential colony. SMC Commissioner, Dr. G N Qasba, who issued the orders for an on-spot inspection and a necessary action, asked people to deist from setting up poultry farms inside residential areas. "It is illegal to come up with such massive farms at a place where people live. Such farms are threat to hygiene of the place and health of locals. It can adversely impact health of kids and elderly particularly," said Dr. Qasba. |
