| ALSAJ celebrates 'Buddha Purnima' at historic Buddhist site Ambaran | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 14: All Ladakh Student Association Jammu (ALSAJ) today celebrated Buddha Purnima at ancient Buddhist site Ambaran , Akhnoor. Over 200 students visited the historic place and offered prayers at ancient Buddhist site for peace and happiness of Jammu and Kashmir. Buddha Jayanti falls on the full-moon day of Vaisakh (April - May) and devotees to Lord Buddha take part in prayer ceremonies in the memory of the birth, enlightenment of Lord Buddha over some 25 centuries ago. "Lord Buddha made humanity his religion and this has motivated thousands of people to follow his teachings till today," said a student while highlighting the preaching of non violence by the Lord Buddha. Majority of students after offering special prayers at the religious place near Akhnoor opinioned that lord Buddha's teachings have a special significance in today's global environment for promoting peace and non-violence among mankind when the world is passing through uncertainty. Students after offerings prayers at the holy site wished that there should be a monastery in Jammu so that they can offer prayers on such religious occasions. After visiting Ambaran Akhnoor the student assembled at Ladakh Sarai Jammu and celebrated Budh Purnima after offering prayers to their deity |
