| Maximum Temp touches 42.3 Deg C in Jammu, vacation from June 6 | | | JAMMU, June 4: With no respite from the scorching heat and the soaring mercury, Jammu today recorded season's maximum 42.3 Degree Celsius thus bringing normal life to a standstill. J&K Government however, ordered closure of all private and government schools for summer vacations from June 6 in view of prevailing weather conditions. However, the scorching heat, forced people to stay indoors. "As there is no respite from the soaring mercury in Jammu, the temperature recorded today was season's maximum 42.3 Degree Celsius and minimum was recorded 24.0 Degree Celsius," a MeT official here said. He said that the temperature continuously kept rising for the past 4-5 days and this afternoon it crossed the 42 Degree mark. Earlier on May 29, the temperature was recorded maximum 41.8 Degree Celsius and on May 1, it was 40.3 Degree Celsius. "There will be no respite in the rising temperature in the coming days head and hot weather conditions will prevail," said an official. However, the city roads wore deserted look today due to the heat wave. Meanwhile Government today ordered that all the government institutions including recognized private schools upto higher secondary level falling in Summer zones of Jammu division shall observe summer vacations with effect from June 6 to July 31. Any default on the part of private schools in observance of the calendar of vacations so authorized shall attract action under rules, said an order. |
