| Demand implementation of six point agenda | | KPs threaten fast unto death | | Javaid Naikoo
Srinagar, June 4: Under the umbrella of All Parties Migrants Coordination Committee (APMCC), Jammu and Kashmir, migrant Kashmiri Pandits today while raising anti state and central government slogans threatened to go on fast unto death in case government failed to implement six point agenda promised to them time and again. Kashmiri Pandits who protested here at press enclave today said that despite repeated assurances from state and central governments, nothing could be done to implement six point agenda which according to them covers some vital issues pertaining to migrant Kashmiri Pandits. Agitating Pandits said that their six point agenda includes, passing of the Temple and Shrines bill which is pending in the state legislature, probe into the encroachments of Hindu temples across the state, facilitating visit to Sharda temple in Pakistan administered Kashmir, establishment of the Shardha Peeth University in Jammu and Kashmir, conceding one-time relaxation for over-aged migrant Kashmiri Pandits and special employment package for non-migrant Kashmiri Pandits is kind of package which migrant Kashmiri Pandits deserve, yet despite tiresome workout over the years and repeated assurances, state government seems in no mood to consider on the genuine demands of migrant Kashmiri Pandits. "Now we have decided to go on fast unto death in case government failed to implement six point agenda" Said Anil Raina, a Protestor. Protesters alleged that some politically affluent people were involved in illegally encroaching temple and Shrines land at many places across the kashmir and the matter though reported by media time and again, has remained unaddressed. "We demand a CBI probe to unravel the faces involved in the encroachment and grabbing of temple and other Hindu religious properties which matter to us most, so when government can announce probe for many other issues like sex scandal, fake encounters, why it hesitates to initiate similar kind of probe in our case to expose all those involved in encroaching land of temples and shrines." said another Protestor While terming 'Prime Minister Package' a failure when it comes to fulfilling demands of migrant kashmiri Pandits, protestors said that both state and central government did nothing so far for kashmiri panidts and demanded that Shardha University which was earlier located at Bijbehara in South Kashmir's Anantnag District should be re-established and without any delay state government led by Omar Abdullah should fulfill his promises made with kashmiri pandits without any further delay. Pandits threated that if their demands are not fulfilled, they will have no option except to go for a hunger strike on August 17 on the day of Janmashtami. They also demanded that government should also initiate dialogue with Pakistan to facilitate the visit of Kashmiri Pandits to Shardha temple in Pakistan administrated Kashmir which according to them is their right. |
