| Govt seeks to sweep its failures beneath carpet of 370 | | | Shakeel A Khan SRINAGAR, June 4: Statement of the Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Article 370 recently has given an opportunity to the leaders of the National Conference to stir the emotions of the people of the state, many of whom are totally ignorant of the provisions of the act. Having failed to address the basic issues of the people all these years, the political leaders are using 370 as a cover up for their failure to deliver. "People in power have no concerns for the common people as they are busy in chalking out the strategy for the upcoming Assembly elections which are just a few months away. These leaders are busy in blame game over 370 and have no time in the world to look into the problems as faced by the people," said some people in Srinagar. "What has the Government done during the last five and half years? The living conditions of the people have not improved over the years and the state of Jammu and Kashmir lacks even in the basic amenities. The tall claims of the coalition leaders are nothing but heartburning statements," said Mohammad Sultan of Srinagar. Sultan added that he feels pinched when these coalition leaders say that the abrogation of article 370 will alienate the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He went on to say that wrong policies of the people in power alienated the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The people of Jammu and Kashmir say that they continue to suffer for want of the basic amenities like electricity, drinking water and proper medical facilities. The Government, as per these people has even failed to improve the road connectivity which is a cause of concern. These days the coalition parties want to overtake each other by taking credit from the recently announced packages and measures. This, as per the people, is the way for these parties to be counted which otherwise have nothing to offer, depicting their utter failure. |
