Jammu, June 4: Highlighting the issues of contractors J&K Contractors Coordination Committee (JKCCC) today reiterated their demand of immediate release of the payments of the contractors who had submitted their cheques in the Sadar Treasury town hall Jammu. At the same time they warned the state government and authorities if their payments are not released the contractors shall be compelled to stop all ongoing construction works across the state. Interacting with the media persons, Balvinder Singh General secretary of J&K Contractors Coordination Jammu along with Raghubir Singh Mannas, other senior members of the committee warned the State Govt that the contractors shall be compelled to stop ail ongoing construction works in the state if the payments of the contractors who have submitted their cheques in the different treasuries of the State in the first week of March-2014 are not released immediately. Singh demanded immediate release of the payments of the contractors who had submitted their cheques in the Sadar Treasury Town Hall Jammu, as the contractors are the worst sufferers because of the freezing of two major heads of PWD by the J&K High Court from the period 02/03/2014 to 12/03/2014, with the result the treasury officer of the said treasury didn't convey the liability of the contractors to the Directorate of Accounts and treasuries during the period of stay. The JKCCC also criticized the Minister of Health and Higher Education Minister for giving away the construction works of different hospitals, school & colleges to State Housing Board bypassing the parent construction department i.e. Public Works Department (PWD). Speakers also alleged that the work orders and contracts have been issued without following any tendering process with the sole aim of absorbing the political workers of the ministers. The blue eyed people are being benefitted at the cost of state exchequer since even the tenders above the cost of Rs 5 Lakh are being allotted without any online tendering. The JKCCC also alleged that the state government gives the allotment of constructions works to the PWD contractors of only those works for which there are no budgetary provision available or partial funds available whereas the central sponsored schemes are concerned in health and education department for which advance funds are available in crores of rupees are allotted either the JK Police Housing Corporation, JK Housing Board and JKPCC. Senior members of the JKCCC present on the occasion included Jasbir Singh Sudan, Prem Singh Jasrotia, Lucky, Balvinder Singh, Kamaljit Singh, Ravinder Singh, Dhrub Singh Jamwal, Deepa, Raj Kumar and others. |
