| Electrical Engineers hold demonstration against Govt apathy | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 5: To express their resentment against the Government's apathy towards them, Graduate Electrical Engineers of PDD held a massive demonstration under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Electrical Engineers Graduates Association (JKEEGA). Demonstrators with banners and placards in their hands were raising slogans in support of their demands. They warned Government to intensify agitation in case their genuine demands were not settled immediately. Addressing the large gathering of Engineers, the President of the association expressed his disappointment against the non fulfilment of genuine demands of fraternity projected before the government from time to time, nothing concrete was done except hollow assurances forcing the fraternity to resort to peaceful demonstration and availing of one day protest leave. The gathering deliberated upon the sufferings of PDD Engineers such as non regularisation of Engineers at all levels, non removal of Mechanical Engineer from the Post of Executive Engineer (Electrical), Central Workshop Division Jammu, promotion of diploma holder JE's as AE in excess of their sanctioned quota and reviewing of functioning of HRM wing vis-a-vis the purpose for which it was created. They were demanding inclusion of the names of Senior AMIE degree holders in the seniority list at the appropriate place as their juniors have already been placed in the said list, inclusion of promotion orders along with postings, framing of a clear cut policy for the officers deputed to other Departments, and bringing them back to PDD and implementation of transfer policy. They were also demanding regularisation of contractual Junior Engineers as and when they complete the stipulated period of seven years, filling of vacant posts at all levels at the earliest, enhancement of fixed TA to junior engineers, registration of FIR in case of Electrical accidents against the Department and not against the Officers, removal of pay anomaly where senior Degree engineers are getting less salary as compared to their juniors. During interaction with the press the President said that the fulfilment of these issues will provide justice to the suffering Engineers. The president further revealed that the association will appeal to the Hon'ble Chief Minister of J&K to direct the concerned to provide speedy resolution of the above mentioned problems being faced by the fraternity. |
