| Cong on revival track in J&K; Party to formulate separate strategies for Jammu, Kashmir regions | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 5: Veteran Congress leader Makhan Lal Fotedar's arrival in Srinagar for a week long tour has raised many eye-brows because Fotedar is known for his relations with leaders of other political parties. Credible sources in Congress said that party high command has deputed Fotedar to Srinagar to interact with grass-root level workers to formulate a new plan to revive Congress in Jammu and Kashmir. Instead of depending on coalition partner National Conference, Congress leadership has decided to contest coming Assembly elections on its own. Sources said that party leadership has realized that in Jammu region there is still Modi Wave and it is obvious that party is going to suffer so Congress has decided to concentrate on some seats in Kashmir valley where party has fair chances of winning. "Fotedar's visit is aimed at exploring possibilities of winning atleast half a dozen Assembly seats in Kashmir valley to compensate loss of Jammu region", sources said and added that Congress has decided to formulate two separate strategies for Jammu and Kashmir regions to avoid any contradictions. Congress leadership is aware that there is strong anti-incumbency factor in Kashmir valley against National Conference so party has decided to take tough stand on some vital issues to give message to the public that party is not going to succumb before the NC. Credible sources said that Fotedar during his stay at Srinagar would try to interact with maximum number of party workers to get authentic feed of the prevailing situation on the ground. |
