| Iranian ambassador plays diplomat at separatist seminar | | Remains mum, no mention of K word | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, June 5: Much to the discomfort of the separatist leaders present in the seminar, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ghulam Raza Ansari maintained complete silence over Kashmir issue and did not even mention the word Kashmir during his 15 minute speech in a seminar in Srinagar. The seminar was organized by Anjaman-i-Shari Shean to commemorate the 25 death anniversary of the founder of Islamic Republic of Iran Imam Khomeni. The Iranian ambassador to India talked about Egypt, Sham, Libeya and Iraq while maintained silence over Kashmir. "We were expecting that at least he (Ghulam Raza Ansari) will urge upon India to resolve the long pending Kashmir issue. We didn't want him to speak against India but at least it was our expectation he would describe Kashmir an issue, but he didn't and it really surprised me," one of the leaders of a religious organization present in the seminar said. Expressing same views, another separatist leader said that he was surprised that the ambassador did not bother to mention the word Kashmir in his speech. "He may have instructions from the top. We can understand his compulsions," he said. The Iranian ambassador in the speech, which he delivered in Persian said that the only purpose of laying the gas line between India, Pakistan and Iran was to create better understanding and friendship among these countries. He said that a conspiracy is hatched to create division and confusion between Muslims all across globe and no Muslim can tolerate whatever is happening is Egypt, Sham, Libeya and Iraq on the behest of Western powers. Ansari further said that Imam Khomeni led the Islamic revolution in Iran because he had faith in Allah and trusted his people. "Western powers are taking Islam as the biggest threat and they are leaving no stone unturned to create a division among Muslims," he said.
