| Sarooi breaks thaw, locals call off strike against Rattle management | | | Early Times Report
Kishtwar, June 5: The week long phased manner strike of general public of Drabshalla and its adjoining areas against the management of 850 MW Rattle Hydro Electrical Power Project ended today after company Vice Chairman Prasona Reddy on the initiative of MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori agreed all the demands raised by the protestors. As per the details the dead lock between the public and management of the project ended only after MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori in a bid to break the thaw hold parleys with management of project headed by Vice Chairman Prasona Reddy and general public at Drabshalla. Speaking on the occasion, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori apprised the management of project about the resentment brewing among locals against management for accommodating the outsider for skilled and unskilled jobs at Rattle Power Project while ignoring local unemployed youths of District Kishtwar. MLA Saroori also urged upon the Chairman M/S GVK Energy Ltd to give preference to local un-employment youth of Drabshalla block including to those families who give their land for the project. "One member of each family whose land has come under the alignment of the said project must be given job opportunity, he said while thanking the management for adjusting 50 land owners. Saroori also appealed to locals to allow project management to carry on with the work in the project as once completed it will benefit the locals. While addressing the gathering, Prasona Reddy from Rattle Project assured the local representative that the company will stick to its guide lines with regard to RR Plan including construction of hospital, school, roads and several other welfare initiatives as promised by the company. On the assurance of company head, the protesters called off the protest and assured the project management that they will cooperate with authorities. |
