Early Times Report

Jammu/Srinagar, June 5: The ongoing sweltering heat has not deterred 2500 Kashmiri Pandit migrants from Jammu who braved heat wave conditions and responded to the call of faith by embarking on their annual pilgrimage to offer special prayer at Sacred Kheer Bhawani temple on the occasion of Jyestha Asthami.
Every year thousands of Kashmiri Pandits converge from different parts of the country thronged to this ancient temple of their deity to pay their obeisance to Goddess Ragnya Devi and seek blessings for the welfare of their families.
Members of the Pandit community have been regularly offering peace prayers to ensure their early return to their homes and hearths and even during the peak militancy their faith remained unaltered.
Meanwhile, to take stock of the arrangements made by the various state govt agencies to ensure smooth pilgrimage Tourism Minister GA Mir today accompanied senior Congress leader ML Fotedar to the temple shrine where he offered special prayers/pooja as well.
Amid religious sloganeering and chanting of mantras which turned the spiritual ambience when more than 2500 Kashmiri migrant Pandits boarded SRTC buses to proceed toward their destiny i.e. the holy temple in Kashmir valley.
Relief Commissioner RK Pandita flagged off the fleet of SRTC buses under tight security arrangements. In his address to the devotees heading towards sacred place, he said like this year the state govt has organized free travel facilities for the migrant community unlike past years. He said we had hired 65 SRTC buses to ferry the maximum number of devotees.
"The pilgrimage is one of the most popular Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) offered by the state govt to bridge the gap between the majority and minority community of valley. Large number of children accompanied their parents and family friends as they had not visited Kashmir valley in their life time.
