Estates Department disbands services of 36 daily wagers
6/6/2014 12:30:31 AM
Early Times Report
Jammu, June 5: At a time when Coalition government is mulling to regularize casual and daily wagers all across state, Jammu Estates Department showed door to all but 36 daily wagers who were associated with the department from past 10 years.
These Daily wagers alleged they were suspended on the instructions of Executive Engineers Electrical and Civil Division. "We are sure the Executive Engineers of the Estate Department want to appoint their own relatives as they know that government is planning to regularize us. It is a conspiracy and the government should come clean on this," a daily wager said.
Same views were expressed by some daily wagers working in different departments like PHE, Floriculture, Agriculture and Horticulture.
An official from Estate Department said that there are clear cut instructions from the government to disband all the casual labours and daily wagers. However, Director Estates Shiekh Fayaz said that the department has not shown door to any daily wager.
"In fact we have sent their file and report to the government which is considering to regularize them," he said.
