| Democratic institutions marginalised in J&K: Hamid | | | Jammu, June 21: People's Democratic Party (PDP) leader and Co-ordinator for Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary constituency, Abdul Hamid Choudhary today said that democratic institutions in Jammu and Kashmir State have been marginalised by the ruling elite due to which development in all three regions of the state have come to a standstill. In his statement issued here, Choudhary Hamid said the present government has failed to deliver good which is why Panchayats have been diluted; elections to local bodies besides Municipal Corporations and Block Development Councils (BDC) not been held so far. The government worked for more than five years but without decentralising powers. This never happened during the regime of People's Democratic Party and now time has come to strengthen the party to the extent that that era is returned. Choudhary Hamid said that PDP under the dynamic leadership of party patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and party chiefMehbooba Mufti has resolved to set up a new system of justice and equality in Jammu and Kashmir State. Educational institutions, agriculture sector, housing and urban development department, roads and buildings department, power sector and health institutions were some of the key areas where incumbent government could have done wonders but lack of will and half hearted approach towards every issue jeopardised progress in every sector. PDP is also committed to give people not only a credible government but also a transparent system of governance where everyone is accountable to common masses. |
