| KPs warn against involvement of non migrants on return issue | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 21: Kashmiri Pandits today warned the Government for taking any decision on return of displaced people to Valley by roping in non-migrant Pandits in dialogue saying that the people who have left the Valley over 60 years back have no right to take decision on behalf of migrants. The displaced Pandits today made it clear to union Government that they alone can take a decision on their return to Valley and not those Pandits who have left the Valley over 60 years back to settle in different parts of country. "The displaced people be taken into confidence on vital return and rehabilitation issue and not the non-migrant Pandits," said Shadi Lal a KP leader from Jagti camp. He said how the people who are not migrants themselves can realize pain and agony of the people who are in exile for last 25 years. It is the real migrant who should be taken into confidence before preparing the return module and not those who are non migrants" he added. He said the non migrants who left the Valley over 60 years back to settle themselves outside Kashmir when situation was totally normal in Valley can't take a decision about the fate of exiled people. Supporting Pandita, Makhan Lal of Displaced Front said that had these people not left the Valley over 60 years back and stayed in Kashmir, the Pandits population could not have reduced to a miniscule minority but could have been at least 10 percent of total population. Their presence in Valley would have given a confidence to the community and its forced exile would have not taken place. He said these are displaced people themselves who can take decision about their fate. The Government's decision on return is a welcome step but the same should not be thrust on the community. He said it is the community the real suffering of turmoil who can determine whether situation has improved in Valley or not. Raja Kaul another KP activist said that before setting rehabilitation process into motion the Government should take security concerns of the community into considerations. He said any haste in taking decision would boomerang and community would be put to more problems. |
