Early Times Report SRINAGAR, June 21: Legal Metrology department has asked the businessmen engaged with floor tiles and marble tiles to display the mandatory declarations on the items being sold by them to the customers. In a statement a spokesman of the department said that under the supervision of Joint Controller, Kashmir a team conducted surprise inspection of different markets in outskirts of Srinagar and booked a number of traders for violating Packaged Commodities laws. The spokesman said that a whole sale dealer of tiles/marbles was found selling floor tiles and wall tiles packs without mandatory declarations of MRP, size, thickness and customer care number. The Deputy Controller, Legal Metrology seized and detained some samples of floor and wall tiles of three Gujarat based factories. The management of the factories was served the legal notices. The spokesman said that under Consumer Protection Act, 1987 it is the right of the consumer to know about the price, quantity, quality and durability of the product so that he may make a rational choice while purchasing the goods/product. |
