Jammu, June 27 : On day 1 of the start of Amarnath yatra two incidents have put additional burden on the security personnel deployed across the state, along the line of control and the International border to remain in a state of high alert amid reports of threat to Amarnath yatra. The first incident related to ceasefire violation along the line of control in Poonch in the wee hours of Friday and in the second case security forces seized huge cache of weapons in general area of Gundoh on Friday. These two incidents coming close on the heels of start of annual Amarnath pilgrimage is expected to put extra burden on the jawans deployed on ground zero especially in the wake of fresh reports of threat to the yatra. According to Jammu based Defence PRO, "Pakistani troops resorted to 'unprovoked' firing at Indian posts along the LoC in Bhimbher Gali-Gambhir forward areas of Poonch around 0035 hours". Defence PRO said, "Pak troops used small arms and automatic weapons to target the Indian posts".He said the Indian troops guarding the border retaliated effectively with equal calibre weapons. The exchange of fire lasted around 1 hour, he added. According to Defence PRO in another incident huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered in Gundoh by the jawans of 26 RR . According to him 8 rounds of UBGL, 2 RPG ROUNDS, 04 Detonators, Mix Ammunition 320 rounds, Radio control IED were recovered by the security personnel |
