JAMMU, June 27: In brazen violation of service rules, some blue eyed doctors at Super Specialty Hospital Jammu have been holding position of senior doctors notwithstanding rejection of their promotion by Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) in first week of this month.
In a humiliating situation in Super Specialty Hospital, Jammu, some senior doctors are reportedly forced to report before the juniors, putting them in a total awkward situation, sources said. They further said that the DPC of Health and Medical Education, allegedly under political pressure of some Ministers had promoted nearly 10 lecturers of Medical College as Assistant professors few months back.
"Some of the doctors (Lecturers), holding close allegiance with Ministers were promoted in violation of norms and the list was approved by Medical Education Department, which was later sent to JKPSC for approval, but latter has reportedly rejected the names of 10 doctors, for promotion", sources said.
They further said that the PSC has send its recommendations regarding its objection in promotion of the lecturers as Assistant Professors. "After lapse of more than three weeks, Medical Education is yet to issue the order", sources said, adding that Government instead of mending undue favour given to blue eyed doctor, was shielding the doctors.
Promotion cases of these doctors were placed before the DCP on June 3, 2014 at Srinagar, the committee comprising member PSC, Principal GMC Jammu and Secretary HME. "But PSC rejected the promotion cases while scrutinizing the cases, since the doctors doesn't eligible for promotion", sources said.
They suggested Government should work as per recommendation of PSC, and these doctors should be placed according to their stature. "Since their promotion cases had been rejected, these Lecturers should be placed according to their stature to prevent their senior doctors (Assistant Professor and Professor) who are being forced to report to their junior (lecturer)", sources said, adding that seniority should be maintained. They further said that the administration should look into the matter to prevent malpractice and humiliation of senior doctors.
