Good news for swimmers, Jammu's only pool to get functional from July

Jammu, June 27: Here comes 'Achhe Din' for the swimmers as the only government swimming pool in this winter capital of the state is going to get functional from the first week of July.
The swimming Pool was closed four years back for renovation work, which had affected the swimming activity at large in the city and thus the swimmers also missed many national level championships due to lack of the facility.
"The only government swimming pool located at Maulana Azad Stadium, which was closed for repairing and renovation purpose will become operational in the first week of July," an official here told UNI.
He said the work is almost over and the swimmers now onwards can continue with the activity. "The renovation work is at the final stage and will be completed in couple of days," Dilip Thus so Secretary State Sports Council said. Thusso said the pool will be thrown open for the swimmers in the first week of July.
"The concerned staff has been directed to fill the pool with fresh water so as to make it ready for trial run," a State Sports Council official said.
He said with the installation of filtration plant, the work is almost complete and it will be soon handed over to the Council.
"It is good news for the swimmers of the state especially of this winter capital as they missed the activity for the past four years," Akshaya swimmer said.
He however, said the swimmers can now practice in routine and also prepare for the national level tournaments and championships.
Pertinent to mention here that there are two more swimming pools constructed at Jammu Club and Amar Singh Club but is available only for the members.
