| Businessman, lawyer join PDP in Srinagar; Mehbooba satisfied | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, June 27: A businessman and a lawyer from Srinagar down town joined opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) here today. Hailing from the downtown, Azhar-ul-Amin, a senior lawyer, joined PDP a day after former Inspector General of Police (IGP) joined the party. Raouf Panjabi belonging to a noted business family, has been a former president of the Chamber of Industries and Commerce. Hailing from Zadibal constituency of the city, Panjabi has been part of many civil society initiatives and philanthropic organisations. Expressing her satisfaction at the increasing appeal of PDP and its agenda among the informed sections of society, especially in Srinagar, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti said the trend has picked up of late and it augurs well for the politics of the state.She said the party is not an exclusive preserve but offers a free and open platform to all sections of society and its aim is to empower different categories of the society. She said the fact that the youth and professionals are finding PDP as a political preference could change the entire political dynamics of the state. |
