| Khidmat Centre owners take to roads over non- fulfillment of demands | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 26: Agitated over the non-fulfillment of assurances by the state Government, Jammu & Kashmir CSC Association members today held a demonstration to protest against the government and other agencies involved in e-governance project launched in 2009.To support the State level agitation in more than 50, Khidmat Centre Owners (VLEs)/CSC Operators from all parts of the Jammu Division assembled outside Press Club and raised slogans in favour of their demands including transfer of electricity bill collection services. Addressing the protesters, they said that were selected and rolled out by the SCA (J&K Bank) four years back as front end delivery points for the National e-Governance Scheme (NeGP). Association's representative Vikas told media that "We were promised that Government services like electricity bill collection service will be transferred to Khidmat centers thus creating an efficient, transparent and corruption free environment in the State but nothing was done with the result our business is running into loss and we are unable to pay rents and other dues", they said. They rue that despite a government committee recommended for a monthly stipend of Rs 7,500 for each VLE and a formal Government order was also issued on this regard, but the same has not been implemented as yet by J&K Bank. "We have highlighted our issues many times to CM Omar Abdulla as well as IT Minister Feroz Ahmad in the recent past but they seems to be helpless in front of Chairman of J&K Bank", they said. |
