JAMMU, June 27: Dental Surgeon Association (DSA) held a meeting under the chairmanship of its president Dr Asif Iqbal Chowdhary and discussed various problems being faced by them. DSA members stressed upon the chief demand regarding the absorption of unemployed dental youth and recruitment of dental surgeons. While speaking, Dr Chowdhary said that the strength of unemployed dental surgeons in the State is more than 1300 and every year more than 300 dental graduates pass from within or outside the State. He added that from the last 6 years there has been no fresh recruitment of dental surgeons in the State and there has been no scope of dental surgeons in NRHM scheme of Central Government. "Last dental recruitment was done in 2008 under notification no. 2-PSC of 2008, he lamented. He said that the State Government must work in coordination with Central Government about this matter. In today's meeting members of DSA-JK decided if their problems will not be addressed till Monday then they will first go for peaceful protest from 1st July i.e. Tuesday and then fast unto death. Speakers urged the Government to frame proper policy to absorb the dental graduates, notify posts in the corresponding PHCs and recruit dental surgeons by opening 'Rural Clinics' and 'Dental units' etc. |
