| Sneijder happy to be one of Netherlands' boss Van Gaal's WC 'pawns' | | |
London, July 4: Netherlands midfielder Wesley Sneijder has reportedly revealed that he is happy to be one of Dutch boss Louis van Gaal`s World Cup `pawns`. Despite Netherlands` progress to the last eight in the World Cup 2014, Van Gaal`s negative approach has been reportedly criticised, with Sneijder only being effective in the squad`s last-16 win over Mexico when they switched to their normal 4-3-3 from a back five. According to The Mirror, Sneijder said that he is not worried about what people say, because he is not the sort of player he used to be. The midfielder said that if one tries to see him as the Sneijder of 2010, and think he is losing balls and not giving crosses, one is right that he is not that player. However, Sneijder added that the coach is satisfied with how he is filling his role at Netherlands. Sneijder said that he plays in his position, does his job and like the other players he is one of the pawns. Nick Kyrgios admits life 'will never be same again' after Wimbledon campaign
Johannesburg, July 4: Australian teenager Nick Kyrgios has reportedly admitted that his amazing Wimbledon campaign has changed his life and it would never be the same again. Kyrgios caused one of the greatest upsets in the history of the tournament when he defeated World No. 1 Rafael Nadal on Centre Court on Tuesday, although he could not replicated that effort a day later in his four-set quarterfinal loss against Canada`s Milos Raonic. According to Sport24, following a wildcard to compete at Wimbledon this year, the 19-year-old`s ranking would jump next week from 144 to around 70, which means that he would fulfill his ambition of getting automatic entry into the Grand Slams and most other ATP tournaments. Kyrgios said that it was his goal to be top 100 at the end of the year, adding that it gives him a chance to have a really good schedule, play some tour events, and don`t worry about Futures and Challengers so much anymore. Kyrgios also said that it has been the best couple weeks of his life and he never though that he would ever make it to quarterfinals of Wimbledon and beat Nadal on Centre Court. |
