| NIA team probing hawala transactions in Kishtwar returns to Delhi | | Scores including separatists quizzed, no arrests made | | Asif Iqbal Naik KISHTWAR, July 4: The 16 member high profile team of the national investigating agency probing hawala transactions in Kishtwar today returned to New Delhi. The team stayed here for three days in connection with ongoing probe into hawala transaction to various militant outfits in the state of Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country. The team questioned scores of persons but no arrests were made. As per the details available with "Early Times" the main suspect hailing from Bijbehara (Kashmir) presently in NIA custody revealed that he visited Kishtwar four times in recent past and handed over money worth lacs of rupees to a militant source. However, he did not disclose the exact details of the source. The NIA with the help of police prepared the list of several suspects having past links with militants or in hawala cases. The investigating agency also quizzed several separatist leaders and other suspects in last three days. The sources within the NIA informed the "Early Times" that after Srinagar Division of the state, Kishtwar is the 2nd biggest hub of hawala transactions and added that the investigation is still on. The sources further reveals that despite wiping out of LeT from the district by the security forces, the Over Ground Workers network of the banned militant outfit is still intact and is playing its role in hawala money transaction. The sources said that NIA investigation is on and added that Jammu and Kashmir police is helping the NIA to trace out the culprits involved in the hawala racket. The sources said that NIA officials are in constant touch with senior police officials in Jammu and Kashmir and showed their satisfaction with the progress and help extended by the J&K police. The sources said that the team will again visit to Kishtwar district shortly with more details and identification of the people felicitating the smooth transaction of hawala money to militant outfits involved in destabilizing peace and tranquility in the country. |
