| Abrogation of Article 370 has become imperative | | Separatists and return of Kashmiri Hindus | | Rustam
JAMMU, July 4: The move of the BJP-led NDA Government to facilitate the return of the persecuted and internally-displaced Kashmiri Hindus to their original homeland after taking them on board has upset the Kashmiri separatists and sectarian clergy. Fanatics ranging from Kashmir's grand Mufti to Syed Ali Shah Geelani to Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to Yasin Malik to Shabir Ahmad Shah to Hameeda Nayeem and to who not - all Pakistani agents - have ganged up and in one voice opposed the return of Kashmiri Hindus to the Valley. They have threatened that they would unleash a movement across the Valley if they the Kashmiri Hindus are settled in separate enclaves. They have described the New Delhi's move to settle them in separate enclaves as a conspiracy hatched at the behest of the BJP and the RSS to change the Kashmir's demography and balkanize the Valley on communal lines. At the same time, they have said that Kashmiri Hindus are part and parcel of Kashmiri society. They have been saying so since years only to mislead the international community. They also say that Kashmir is not an integral part of India. In other words, they are not just fanatic and sectarian, but they are also seditionists. These handful of fanatics and anti-India elements, who are also overtly and covertly supported by certain elements in the establishment, not only want the Kashmiri Hindus to return to Kashmir on their own terms and conditions but also oppose the demand of the refugees from West Pakistan seeking citizenship rights, as if Jammu & Kashmir is their personal estate. They shamelessly say that the grant of citizenship rights to the refugees from West Pakistan would change the state's demographic structure. They are not the only ones who vehemently oppose the citizenship rights demand. Even the so-called mainstream parties like the NC, the Congress and the CPI-M, who have been subverting the polity from within and outside since decades to promote their communal agenda, also, like the separatists, oppose the West Pakistan refugees' human, rational and democratic demand. Indeed, it is impossible to distinguish between fanatics and "mainstream" Kashmiri leaders. But the separatists do not stop just there. They also warn the Government of India that any move on its part to amend or abrogate Article 370 would provoke religious explosions in the Valley. The stand of the fanatics and seditionists that the Kashmiri Hindus are part and parcel of Kashmiri society is highly mischievous. They oppose their demand for separate homeland and say that they would not mind if they are resettled in their original houses so that they are again abused, persecuted, humiliated, tortured and exploited. Not just this. Their condition is that if they wish to resettle in Kashmir, they will have to join the ongoing anti-India and pro-Pakistan movement in the Valley. Enough is enough. They cannot be allowed to behave in the fashion they have been behaving and going scot-free. They are just handful. They can be tackled in no time. There is no need to act like Islamabad is acting against rebels in parts of Pakistan, including North West frontier Province and on AfPak border. Islamabad has been resorting to bombardment in the rebel-infested areas so that they are eliminated and Pakistan remains intact. There is also no need to act like Israel has been acting against Islamic terrorists, as the number of fanatics and seditionists is just negligible. They have been able to play devious and communal games and muddy Indian waters in the Valley simply because the state apparatus has been ineffective or sympathetic towards the secessionists and fanatics. It is time for New Delhi to act. It needs to take two actions at the earliest. It must abrogate Article 370 and bring the state at par with other states and union territories and it must bring the likes of Grand Mufti and Geelani to justice. This is the minimum the Government of India must do without losing a single moment so that a right message goes that New Delhi means business and it shall not tolerate anything non-sense. This is also imperative to tell the whole world that Kashmir belongs to Kashmiri Hindus. |
