Jammu, July 4 : Tazim Ulama and Aima Masjid Jammu has appealed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to enhance their monthly salary, as they have been getting only meager amount, making it impossible for them to run their families. According to press release, a meeting of TUAMJ was held at Subash Nagar and was attended by several Imams and chaired by Moulana Shah Mohammad, vice president of Aima Masajid Jammu. Speaking on the occasion, Moulana Shah Mohammad said that during the year 1995, Aima Masjid Tanzim had filed a petition in the Supreme Court, following which the Supreme Court had fixed the pay of Rs. 5000 to 10,000 to Imams. He further said that the decision has been implemented in Himachal Pardesh, Punjab, Delhi, Haryana and Bengal, but unfortunately in Jammu and Kashmir the Imams have been paid Rs. 1000 per months and some Immams were getting Rs. 3000. "We cannot undertake any type of work, so it is our humble appeal to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to enhance our monthly salary", he said. Qari, Khadim Hussain, Niaz Ul Haq Nayeeni, Anwar Hussain, Qari Tariq Hussain, beside others attended the meeting. |
