Unemployed Engineers, Rattle HEP management bury hatchet
Comprehensive recruitment plan in week's time

Kishtwar, July 4 : The logjam between the management of 850 MW Rattle Hydro Electrical Power (HEP) project and agitating unemployed Engineers today came to an end after Principal Company GVK along with sublet L&T agreed to accommodate local unemployed youths in the project and has assured that both the companies will come out with a comprehensive recruitment plan in week's time, beside make the appointment of 6 local unemployed Engineers at first instance with immediate effect.
The deadlock between the Rattle HEP project ended in a settlement during a meeting chaired by the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar at his office chamber in which five members represented the unemployed Engineers Association, beside the officials of GVK & L&T, Assistant Labour Commissioner Zakir Hussain Wani and others were also present. During an hour long meeting, several issues with regard to making of transparent appointment in the project were discussed. Deputy Commissioner during the course of the meeting took strong note ofappointment of outsiders in the project by the management at the cost of the local. He also imposed blanket ban on adjustment of non locals in the project till the ratio of 80:20% could be maintained and directed the Rattle project management to appoint local unemployed so that the imbalance in making the appointments between locals and non locals could be stream lined. He also order for constituting of team headed by ADDC and Assistant Commissioner Labour as its members for supervising the recruitment process in the project so that the law and order problem could be avoided in future. He categorically directed the project management to adhere strictly on the guidelines set in Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the project management and administration.
DC Kishtwar also authorized the project management to make the appointments of unskilled and semi skilled persons in the project with intimation to the administration while all other appointments including those of engineers, skilled persons will be made by the committee headed by Deputy Commissioner himself. At the end of the meeting, all the stake holders agreed in principal to address the issue as per the settlement reaches during today's meeting. On the assurance of DC and final outcome of the meeting, the agitating unemployed engineers called off their protest and pin hope on the comprehensive plan to be tabled by the Rattle Power project management in week's time.
