| Patients deprived of 'Free of Cost' First Aid, Life Saving Drugs: CWA | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 4: Consumer Welfare Association (CWA) deputation called on Dr B S Pathania, Director Health Services (DHS) Jammu to highlight problems being faced by the patients and attendants woes in the hospitals functioning under Directorate of Health Services. A delegation comprising Vikram Gour, President, SK Gupta Vice President, BM Kohli Gen. Secy and Chander Parkash Sharma Secy CWA during their meeting pointed out that while it is mandatory to provide 'Free of Cost' all First Aid/medical help including medicines to all Emergency Patients admitted in government hospitals but it has been noticed that hospital staff on duty forces the attendants of the patients to purchase all necessary life saving drugs including some First Aid items from the open market. Director Health Dr Pathania listened to their issues and apprised the delegation that there is provision to carry out Prescription Audit by Food and Drug Controller in case of complaints in this regard but no such complaint yet has been received. The CWA members pointed out that sanitation/cleanliness of hospital premises and absence of blod bank in majority of hospitals. Dr Pathania explained that although maximum effort is being made to keep hospital premises clean yet the shortage of staff and heavy rush of patients makes things difficult while in regard to blood banks although maximum efforts are made to meet the demand yet there is always shortage of donors to keep the Bank full. The Director Health also informed that medical checkup facility has been provided at Vaishano Dham at Railway station, Bhagwati Nagar, Ram Mandir, Jammu Haat (exhibition ground) and one at Railway station could not be provided for non availability of proper space at the platform. Meantime CWA offered its services to arrange space at the railway station after discussing the matter with DTM. |
