Basohli people demand due exploring of 'tourism' in their area

Kathua, July 4: Alleging neglect of picturesque Basohli the locals today highlighted their long pending demand for due development of basic infrastructure and to explore tourism potential in Basohli sector and to put the Ranjit Sagar dam as a tourism spot at national tourism map.
While interacting with ET some prominent residents of the Basohli urged the state and union governments to give their due attention on the development of Basohli as tourist spot at national and international tourism map.
He said that Ranjeet Sagar Dam (RSD) has large potential for multi-dimensional water sport tourism in the area. Highlighting tourism potential within the area, the locals said, "The area is surrounded with scenic beauty of snow capped hills, green meadows, forest cover and comforting climate also." The said lake with two to three kms wide is ideal for boat racing, water skiing, wind surfing and yachting, kayaking, canoeing etc. "Shikaras and house boats too can be provided to the tourists for water ride miles amidst the Shivalik hills having thick forest all over, he added.
"Besides these facilities the government can also look for possibilities of floating restaurants to attract large number of tourists to spend their vacations and weekends, they said and added, "even the training center for naval wing of NCC for imparting actual training instead of simulated training and can also offer immense scope to Bollywood industry."
The residents also mentioned that lake is encircled with thick trees making it ideal for developing into the bird/wildlife sanctuary which enable the lovers and watchers of the world.
