Udhampur, July 9: Police today arrested a one narcotic smuggler besides recovering 7 Kg Poppy Straw (Bhuki) from his possession near Roun Domal. Police spokesman said that on reliable information, a police team led by in-charge police post Puran Singh raised a surprise naka at Roun Domal and intercepted a truck bearing registration number PB08AZ -9573 which was on way from Kashmir to Punjab.
"During thorough search of the truck, 7 Kg of Poppy Straw (Bhuki) which was recovered from the truck", said spokesman adding that the accused driver namely Romesh Kumar son of Nanak Chand of Gurdas Pur Punjab arrested on the spot. Police seized drug along with the vehicle. In this connection, a case under section 8/15 NDPS Act at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation of the case is going on. |
