Specialist doctors engaged under NRHM without salary since 7 months | Mission director says funds sanctioned till May, Dir Health blames Union Govt | | Akshay Azad Jammu, July 9: The specialist doctors engaged under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) in Jammu province are without salary for the last more than seven months, making it hard for them to manage their expenditures. Astonishingly, the Mission Director NRHM, Dr. Yashpal Sharma said that they have released the funds to Director Health for release of salary to specialized doctors, but Director Health BS Pathania put blame on delay in release of funds from Union Government. Specialized doctors engaged under NRHM, informed Early Times that uncertainty loomed large over monthly salary every month. "Since we were engaged by the department, we have not got regular salary. The NRHM has virtually turned into a bankrupt organization, where ambiguity always prevail over salary", a doctor said. He further said that the NRHM has so far been failed to ensure regular salary to engaged staff and recently the Government has launched National Urban Rural Health Mission (NURHM), the fate of which could easily be assessed. Another doctor lamented that the specialist doctors engaged in other states have been getting regular wages. "Moreover their salary has been revised from Rs. 48,000 per month to above Rs. 60,000, but in Jammu we are still getting Rs. 48,000 per month and that too intermittently", he rued. The doctors said that already the doctors dithered to opt for NRHM job after retirement, as in private practice handsome amount was earned. "If the attitude of Government would remain as it is, the NRHM will fail in state", they said. Mission Director NRHM Dr. Yashpal Sharma said that they had released the funds for payment of doctors' salary, engaged under NRHM, till ending May. "It is the responsibility of Director Health to release the salary to doctors", he said. Mission Director further said, "You can also visit the website of NRHM, and view the details of funds released by NRHM for payment of salaries to doctors". Director Health Jammu, BS Pathania admitted that salary of specialist doctors since last seven months was pending but surprisingly blamed the delay in releasing of salaries, to delay in release of funds by Union Government. When asked that it has been reported that Directorate had not projected the demand, he claimed that was not the question. |
