KISHTWAR, July 9: After nearly over two and half year of trial, Juvenile Justice Board New Delhi awarded three years imprisonment to accused juvenile Abid Hussain Bhawani son of Attaullah Bhawani resident of Chinar Gali Kishtwar for his involvement in September 7, 2011 Delhi High Court blast case for sending an email claiming responsibility of the blast in which 17 people died while several others injured in the blast that took place outside the court.
As per the details available with "Early Times", the board found guilty Abid Bhawani for having a willful knowledge of the blast in advance, beside sending an email to various media houses. Board while pronouncing the judgment awarded 3 year punishment to the accused which is maximum in case of a juvenile.
It is pertinent to mention here that Abid was arrested by National Investigating Agency (NIA) on September 10, 2011 after an email claiming responsibility of the blast was tracked to a local cyber cafe in Kishtwar. After remaining in juvenile home for almost five months, he was released on bail after he (Abid) turned an approver. However, it was not clear whether the board included the five month period in the sentence or not.
Abid was 5 days short of 18 years when the blast took place outside Delhi High Court. Besides Abid, two Kishtwari youth Amir Abbas Deb and Dr. Waseem Akram Malik since their arrest of September 14 and October 4 respectively from Kishtwar and Bangladesh are also involved.
The trial of the case is at advanced stage and the final judgment in the case is expected shortly. Amir Abbas has also turned approver, while Dr. Waseem is facing trial as a main conspirator of the blast alongwith over half dozen Pakistani militants who are still at large.
The family members of all the three including that of the convicted juvenile pledge innocence of their wards and will challenge the verdict of the court in future.
