| Professors latch on prized postings, throw norms to winds | | All Government Colleges' controlled by might of influence | | Shiv Thakur
Jammu, July 9: Higher education Department is once again in limelight for undue favouring to its blue eyed which is to be seen in almost all the colleges of the city. In utter violation of the State Transfer Policy, nearly about 39 teachers from city colleges Jammu are playing hide and seek within the city limit for the last five years.
Not only this, about 30 teaching and non-teaching staff members have defiantly violated the transfer policy of the state staying more than above 3 years within same colleges including GCW Gandhinagar, GGM Science College and Govt. MAM College.
Reliable sources told Early Times that about 22 professors from different city colleges either manage to remain in the same college by manipulating the transfers or by the mechanism of transfer modification.
Sources also rued that such professors due to their influential background, have not been transferred and in case any transfer happens they use to apply their lifeline of transfer modification.
Sources claimed that it has come to fore that 26 teaching and non teaching faculty members comprising Associate Professors and Assistant Professors in City colleges have completed their official tenure of three years but still are in same colleges only because of their influence.
Pertinently the sources provided the list of professors of three reputed city colleges which include Prof Sushma Chib, Maths who is working in same college since 2000, Sangeeta Sudan (Chem.) more than 8 years, Dr. I A Khan, Geography faculty and Prof. Rakesh Gupta (Elect.) all from Govt. MAM College despite these professors one of the Prof. namely Ram Singh is receiving salary against Mathematics while being a Professor in Zoology in the same MAM college.
The list of GCW tops with Prof. Suresh (Physical Education dept) with a career of about 16 years in GCW Gandhi Nagar, Prof. Geetanjali Rana, Prof. Sudha, Prof. Naveen Anand, Seema Balloria (10 yrs) and Prof. Shally Chadha. Prof. Naveen Anand being a violator of transfer policy has managed to remain in the same college from many years by modification of transfer thrice due to his personal influence, said the sources. " Prof. Veer Singh with a similar case like Prof. Ram Singh of MAM college is receiving salary against Music department despite being Prof. in Chemistry, sources again added.
Sources also rued that in the list of GGM Science College, Prof. Poonam Kamotra, Prof. Sunil Bhat, Prof. Anjali Abrol and Prof. Anju all from Chemistry Department are working for more than 6 years in GGM Science College and despite all this Prof. Raman Gupta (chem.) is working in the same college from his start of career as he was firstly appointed in GGM science college 7 years earlier.
Lastly, the sources also said that in spite of this, three of the Professors namely D.S Manhas of GCW Gandhinagar, Prof. Pankaj and Prof. Deshbandu of Science College have been appointed for Rural Backward Areas (RBA) but are working in city colleges from many years.
Higher Education Minister, M. A .Lone when contacted by Early Times said, " I have already received information regarding this and I am going to frame a committee to look after this matter". |
