| Vibrant Sports policies being implemented: Bhalla | | Coaching fee remission for specially abled, reduction for students, non students | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, July 9: Saying that promoting sports culture and sports activities in the state is among priorities of the government and number of projects are underway to upgrade the sports infrastructure across the State, the Minister for Housing, Horticulture, Culture and Youth Services & Sport, Raman Bhalla has said that vibrant sports policies have been framed to boost and rejuvenate the sports sector of the State by the government, besides to provide platform to the budding talent of State to exhibit their talent in national and international sports events. The Minister was addressing in a 139th Standing Committee Meeting of J&K State Sports Council (J&KSSC) held here today. Principal Secretary Planning and Development, B.R.Sharma, Principal Secretary, Finance, B.B.Vyas and Secretary J&KSSC, Dilip Thusu were present in the meeting. The meeting discussed threadbare various issues pertaining to the better functioning of the Sports Council, besides took stock of measures and policies being implemented for the upgradation and betterment of sports culture in the State. Bhalla said that government is taking every possible step to encourage and provide support to the youth to exhibit their talent, so that they excel with shining future besides, bring laurels for the State in national and international sports competitions. He said that focused attention is being given by the government for the upgradation of sports infrastructure in rural areas also to exploit the hidden talent and potential concealed in remote and far-flung areas. He stressed for holding national level sports events in rural areas also. It was decided in the meeting that no membership/coaching fee shall be charged to the specially-abled, dumb and deaf sports persons in all stadiums of J&K State Sports Council, besides reduction in coaching fee will be given in favour of students; non student sports persons across the State. The meeting was informed that sports training councils will be established in both the twin cities of Jammu and Srinagar of the State. The Committee also decided to restrict the duration of tenure and age of office bearers of State Sports Associations. During the meeting balance sheet of J&K State Sports Council of last five years was also present which has been prepared first time to maintain the transparency and accountability in the Council. The meeting also decided that the sports material will be distributed at the district levels to the registered clubs by the J&KSSC. During the meeting, the members put forth their suggestions for bringing more efficiency and improvement in the sports sector of the State besides for encouragement and inspiration of hidden talent in the State. The members of J&KSSC including Joint Director Jammu Sidhart Sharma, Joint Director, Kashmir, J.B Singh Bali, Prof B.A Shah, Zameer Ahmad Thakur, Kuldeep Handoo, and Ranjeet Kalra were also among others present in the meeting. |
