| Moghla coal miners' strike enters 6th day, condition of 2 workers deteriorate | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, July 9 : The condition of two casual coal mine workers have deteriorated and were evacuated out of a coalmine at Moghla, where they were sitting on 'fast unto death' for the last 6 consecutive days along with other 8 workers in favor of their demands. Raj Kumar casual workers union leader said that Krishan Singh and Jagdev Singh were replaced by Manzoor Hussain and Sat Pal and both have been admitted in a hospital at Sunderbani. He also alleged that on Tuesday Krishan Lal was evacuated out of the mine in the morning but was forced to remain in a Public Health Center at Moghla where no doctor was present and even the ambulance was also not provided to shift him to district hospital at Rajouri. "District administration claim that every necessary arrangements have been made at Moghla coal mine in case of any emergency. But these poor workers have been left on the mercy of God as no doctor and no medicine is available at Moghla PHC" said Raj Kumar. Casual coal mine workers have been demanding increase in daily wages from Rs 150 to Rs 300, regularisation of the services of those who have completed 7 or more years and modern facilities at these mines On Tuesday Abid Suhail , MD through his representatives included Kirtan Singh and Jai Mohan Singh, Kalakot mines project manager and manager respectively tried to settle the matter in a meeting held But after 6 hour long discussions the talk failed , MD has demanded 15 days for the settlement of their demands while the workers were demanding that they can wait for government decision for regularisation of the services but MD must announce increase in the daily wages in front of the workers.More than 40 casual labourers included 10 on fast unto death have been sitting inside a coal mine at Moghla while others were sitting outside the mine. |
