Poonch, July 9 : Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Poonch of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Jammu (SKUAST-J) organized two days training programme in collaboration with Department of Horticulture Poonch. According to press release, welcoming the participants, Dr. Sanjay Swami, Programme Coordinator, KVK Poonch highlighted the importance of plant propagation techniques of different fruit crops of the region. He also briefed about other schemes of the KVK for the benefit of farming community of district Poonch. Around 20 students of BHT/BAT diploma course are being awared in the training programme. Participants were also given demonstration about the new technologies and different methods of budding like 'T' budding, Inverted 'T' budding, Patch budding, Ring budding and Chip budding etc. The participants were also provided the opportunity give hands on various budding techniques and develop skill for the same. It is pertinent to mention here that the BHT/BAT diploma course was started by KVK Poonch since Feb-2014 for the students who have dropped out/ left the school, so that they can learn and apply the latest technologies in the field of Horticulture/ Agriculture. During the training programme, lectures and demonstration on various propagation techniques in different fruit crops were given by the scientists of KVK namely Dr. Muzafar Mir, SMS Horticulture, Dr. Muneeshwar Sharma, SMS Plant Protection and Dr. Sanjeev Kumar and experts from department of Horticulture. They also shared their field experiences with the participants and highlighted that these techniques are most useful to the students for the development of quality planting material of fruit crops. |
