JAMMU, Aug 7: A three days' orientation programme for fresher who got new admission to under-graduate and masters programmes in agricultural sciences, veterinary sciences and biotechnology at SKUAST-Jammu concluded at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu). In the undergraduate courses 66 students each have been admitted in agricultural sciences and veterinary sciences, and 30 students in biotechnology. In masters programmes the students have been admitted in 33 disciplines of agricultural, veterinary and basic sciences. Prof. P. K. Sharma, Vice Chancellor interacted with the freshers on the last day of the orientation programme. Prof. Sharma laid emphasis on punctuality and discipline for overall development of the personality of a student. He advised students on acquiring cognitive as well as practical skills during the degree programmes to gain professional competence. The vice chancellor in his address dwelt on comprehensive arrangements made by the university to maintain the reputation of "ragging free" institute. For this, the university has setup anti-ragging committees headed by Director Education, SKUAST-Jammu. The theme of the freshers orientation programme was,"help your juniors and respect your seniors." The students were taken on a guided tour of different departments, university library, students' centre, research fields and other landmarks at the two campuses of Chatha and RS Pura. Regular classes according to the time-table will begin from August 8. |
