Awaiting regularization for years, education volunteers lose hope
Intra-departmental indifferences put stakes of EVs on risk

KATRA, Aug 7: Even 12 years down the line, the gullible lot that joined Education Volunteers (EVs) under the centre sponsored Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) scheme launched in the tenure of Harsh Dev Singh as the then Education Minister in 2002-03 are wondering high and dry over the jinx that refuses to break.
The EVs were appointed under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan (SSA) Scheme in 2002-2003 and were yet to be regularized, despite repeated contacts made with the Government.
In this regard, some of the people working under such schemes in many villages rue that after the lapse of nearly 12 years, no effort has been envisaged from any quarter as they feel their career being jeopardized. As per the official norms, every EV has to be regularized after seven years of his/her services.
Some of the EVs awaiting regularization as General Line Teachers (GLTs) in block Sunderbani in Rajouri district while talking to Early Times reporter said that they are being made scapegoat by the administration as the government seems to have turned nelson eye towards their regularization.
Though some of them have been turned into ReTs, yet their fate to see themselves as General Line Teachers (GLTs) still eludes them.
" I have been forced upon this designation as in-charge ZEO as I do not want to pursue with this post as many queries reach my office daily regarding this arrangement upon which I have no direct power," said Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) , Sunderbani Pritam Chand adding that he has sent an appeal to the concerned high-ups to consider his plea and relive him of this charge and post him somewhere else.
Pritam Chand obviously indicated his vulnerability to take up these issues in any perspective while demanding relief from the post of incharge ZEO.
Meanwhile, the Chief Education Officer, Rajouri Lal Mohammad Hussain also gave up a lame excuse for being ignorant of the problem saying that until he does not receives the matter in his office, he is helpless to do anything.
"How can I come across the prevailing problem when no such file is moved from the ZEO's office to my office," said Lal Mohammad Hussain while talking to this reporter.
While the administrative apathy has come to fore regarding the regularization of EVs in education departments, sources reveal that since there is no will to regularize the held-up teachers, the intra-departmental indifferences has put the stake of EVs on risk.
" How can we disseminate ethical knowledge to the students when we ourselves do not know the fate of our jobs security was the unanimous lament of Sanjeev Singh, Vijay Kumar, Vijay Sharma, Jagdish Kumar and Anita Devi- all EVs awaiting regularization as GLTs in Rajouri district.
