Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 7: Hopes of safe return of the BSF jawan swept away in string currents of River Chenab to Pakistan has rekindled on Thursday after Indian authorities in Islamabad and in New Delhi took the matter at highest level with Pakistan High Commissioner which later agreed to facilitate the safe return of the jawan at the earliest.
According to official sources the pressure mounted in this regard by the Indian govt upon Pak authorities seems to have worked as the other side has clearly indicated that they are ready to hand over the custody of the BSF jawan to their BSF counterparts on Friday.
"India today summoned the Pakistan Deputy High Commissioner and sought immediate release of the BSF jawan who was captured by Pakistani rangers in their territory after he was accidently swept away to Pakistan alongwith patrolling boat by a strong current of the Chenab River in Pargwal of Akhnoor some 30 kms away from winter capital of state, BSF sources said. They added a Company Commander level flag meeting was held earlier today at the Nikowal Border Outpost Post (BoP) in Jammu sector between two sides where the Pak Rangers disclosed the BSF jawan Satyasheel Yadav (30) would return tomorrow.
Meanwhile, DG BSF DK Pathak in New Delhi has stated that "We have sent a request note through our Wagah frontier and have also requested for a Commandant level flag meeting. We are making all efforts to secure our trooper and I hope that he will sent back to us very soon."
Pathak also has stated the trooper, 30-year-old Satyasheel Yadav, had reached the Pakistan territory "accidentally" and he was not part of any "action" that the border guarding force was conducting yesterday when the incident happened.
"We are waiting for their (Pakistan Rangers) response. We are exploring all channels," he has said.
In Lahore, a senior Rangers official has indicated that they have decided to free the Indian soldier. "We have completed his interrogation. He will be handed over to the BSF tomorrow in the presence of the media after a flag meeting with BSF in Sialkot on Friday morning, reported some media section while quoting senior Pak Rangers official.
