| Indentify land for 'old age homes: DB to Div Coms' | | | Jammu, Aug 7: In a Public Interest Litigation filed by Viklang Chattra Trust regarding better care of old age home, the Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur directed Divisional Commissioners Jammu and Kashmir to identify the land measuring about 16 Kanals to construct composite home at RS Pura Jammu and Samboora Pampore. In compliance report filed by State, land has been identified for construction of composite home at Samboora, Pampore for Kashmir Division and at RS Pura Jammu for Jammu Division but it appears that the total area of land idenifed does not exceed four to six Kanals. Sr Advocate Sunil Sethi appearing for the PIL pointed out that the area of four or six Kanal would be inadequate to cope up with the requirement of inmates and much more area would be necessary and according to him area should not be less than 2 Acres (16 Kanals). He further submitted that grant to the extent of 90 percent from central Govt for constriction of these homes has to be sanctioned and the state should not shy away from requisitioning of funds from the central Govt. Upon this Division Bench directed Divisional Commissioners Jammu and Kashmir shall also identify the land measuring 16 Kanals to construct the homes and the said that the needful shall be done within two weeks.
