Jammu, Aug 7: Doctors of Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir achieved yet other feat by performing a crucial microscopic disc surgery on a 45 year old male patient in north Kashmir at Community Health Centre (CHC) Sopore for the first time. Although a tertiary level surgery the operative team performed the surgery in a successful manner. The patient who was complaining of severe back ache was diagnosed as L4-L5 PIVD and the operative procedure done was L4-L5 Microdisectomy. The team headed by Dr Mir Basharat Kant (MCH Neurosurgery) included Dr Samir Ibrahim, Consultant Anaesthetist, Dr Imran Mumtaz, Consultant Orthopaedics, Amjad Ali, Mohd. Shafi, Showkat and Shams Din (Theatre Staff). The significance of surgeries like these is that patients will be provided tertiary care set up in peripheral hospitals with ease and at their doorsteps thereby saving their precious time and lessening down the burden on already burdened tertiary hospitals. Director Health Services, Kashmir Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman has complimented the operative team and the administrator of CHC Sopore for attaining such a remarkable feat. |
