Tangmarg facing representation crisis: Naeem Akhtar
8/8/2014 12:01:43 AM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, Aug 7: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Spokesperson, Naeem Akhtar, Thursday, said the political interference in Tangmarg constituency has adversely affected the economic potential of this richly endowed area.
Addressing a well-attended public gathering, at Serdhangerpora in Tanmarg constituency, he said the area is suffering from huge representation deficit. He said people of this constituency will have to take an initiative to restore their dignity, as their present representative has made every attempt to compromise it for his peculiar political interests.
Appealing the people to empower Mohammad Abbas Wani, the PDP candidate, in next elections, Akhtar said the right thinking people of Tanmarg alone can retrieve the situation and script a bright future for themselves. He said Abbas has been given the party's ticket keeping in view his loyalty to the party, his belief in its manifesto, his modesty and ground level contacts with the ordinary people.
Akhtar said the party will campaign for his victory with the same amount of seriousness that it will employ for any other constituency and given the enthusiasm of the people, the change in the constituency, is inevitable. Akhtar said the entire constituency has immense potential and it can be developed as a world class tourism destination but, unfortunately, due to the lack of proper representation and government indifference it could not get developed fully. He said PDP during its brief tenure took up major initiatives to give boost to the tourism in the area but those have been aborted by the present National Conference government.
