| ACTF changed to CTF, announces election in Oct | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 7: In order to avoid confusion with its title, the executive members of Associated Chambers of Trade Forum (ACTF) changed its title to Chambers of Trade Forum (CTF) and announced that the election of the organization would be held soon in this year in a meeting held here today. Speaking on the occasion members said that there was some confusion with the earlier title of the organization. The meeting said that the election for the organization would be held in October this year but can be proponed if state elections are held in same period. The CTF which is premier organization of trade and business in the State is not only looking to the interests of trade, business and consumers but has also been cooperating with the Government and is practically serving as a bridge between the Government and the civil society. The body, in its meeting held today under the chairmanship of Yash Paul Gupta, also passed some amendments to the constitution and discussed important issues like delay being caused in beautification projects of Jammu. The meeting expressed concern over the impact of the trade of Jammu with the direct rail link to Katra. They said it is good step in the interest of lakhs of pilgrims visiting the shrine but some necessary steps are needed to be taken in the interests of Jammu traders and hoteliers. The CTF has already given many suggestions to the Government. The Government must provide better marketing facilities, food joints, ensure speedy work on development and beautification projects like artificial lake and Gandola, easing traffic congestion, providing parking facilities by creating new slots, development of more parks and gardens. Such facilities would attract pilgrims coming to Mata Vaishno Devi and Shri Amarnath besides other tourists. It was further stressed to create more Ware Houses in Jammu area as in last 50 years only one came up in Jammu. The members stressed to ease traffic congestion in Jammu city and create more parking slots in city. A rehabilitation policy is needed to be implemented for the traders carrying on business activity in Old city's congested areas. Good markets are needed to be created with modern facilities in some identified locations as done in Srinagar. The Federation stressed for simplifying VAT regime and rationalization of Commercial Taxes as it would yield more tax revenue to the Government. |
