Jammu, Aug 7 : In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) regarding tens of millions of pilgrims visited Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine and tax/ fee is being collected from the Pilgrims for the services rendered by Pouny/Pithoos (labour)/ Palkiwalas u/s 66 of J&K Municipal Act, the Division Bench of J&K High Court observed that in purported compliance of order passed by this Court, Ravi Kumar Executive Officer, Municipal Committee, Katra was transferred as Executive Officer, Municipal Committee, Reasi but the aforesaid transfer of Ravi Kumar was not accepted by this Court. Today, Division Bench Comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice DS Thakur after hearing battery of lawyers from both the sides observed that in purported compliance of order passed by this Court, Ravi Kumar Executive Officer, Municipal Committee, Katra was transferred as Executive Officer, Municipal Committee, Reasi. However, the aforesaid transfer of Ravi Kumar was not accepted by this Court.
Accordingly, a direction was issued that Ravi Kumar Gupta was not given posting in District Headquarter. In compliance of the directions the Director, Urban Local Bodies, Jammu vide order dated 11.07.2014 has issued order placing the services of Ravi Kumar at the disposal of Directorate.
Division Bench further observed that further follow up action has not been reported and directed same be filed specifying where the Ravi Kumar then EO Katra has now been posted. (JNF) |
