| People burn Pakistan flag, demand strengthening of security grid | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Oct 6 : Protests and anger spilled onto roads against the killing and injuring of innocent people of Arnia and several others injured in separate incidences of Pakistan firing across the border areas of Jammu. The border hamlet people of tehsil Hiranagar staged protest at Sanjhi Morh in the leadership of BJP leader Karan Kumar and burnt Pakistan's flag.The protesters raised slogans against Pakistan accusing it of sponsoring cowardly acts and border firing to create communal tension in Jammu and Kashmir. Karan Kumar said such types of incident are highly condemnable and shameful. He also took Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to task and described him as a "security risk". He demanded Omar's immediate removal for his alleged failure in curbing infiltration and militancy. "On the other hand, he has framed policies like rehabilitation for militants, which rehabilitate militants without any verification," he said. At village Manyari, villagers staged a protest demanding immediate dismissal of the Chief Minister. The protesters condemned the terror strikes and advocated for strengthening the security forces with sophisticated weapons. Describing the terrorist attacks in Dayalachak, Samba, Janglote and unprovoked firing at border, as an revelation for those who consistently advocating removal of the Armed Forces Special Power Act. The people urged the state and the Central governments to strengthen the security grid and existing village defence committees including creation of more Village Defence Committees, in the border villages of Jammu, Samba, Kathua and other parts of the state. The villagers also urged people to remain united, vigilant and cooperate with the police and armed forces in fighting militancy in every possible manner. District President of Congress Ex-MLC Subash Gupta condemned the killings, frequent ceasefire violations, infiltration bids on borders and accused the neighboring country of creating trouble in Jammu and Kashmir. |
