| DC Rajouri constitutes team to maintain transparency in 'relief distribution' | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Oct 6: To avoid allegations of any discrimination by the revenue or other officials engaged in preparing the lists of damaged houses, Jatender Kumar Singh , IAS, Deputy Commissioner (DC) has constituted another teams to counter check/verify the already prepared lists. High places sources said that the decision was taken to counter check the prepared lists following various complaints lodged with DC Rajouri therein locals alleged the discrimination especially by the concerned Patwaris to provide relief to their blue eyed persons who are not even the flood victims. To make the system transparent corruption free, the DC Rajouri while talking to reporters said following allegations from certain quarters district administration has constituted teams for various tehsils being headed by sincere district level officers. In this connection he has issued an order vide his office order No PS/DDCR/2014-2015/0rder-141 and has directed the concerned tehsildars to cooperate the verification teams so that the process can be completed within 7 days.As per his orders District Youth & sports Officer will be responsible for Kotranka tehsil while District Coordinator NYK (Nehru Yuva Kendra) will verify the lists in Kalakot tehsil. The order stated that Deputy Controller Civil Defence will verify the prepared lists in Manjakot and Darhal tehsils while District Coordinator NCC (PG College) has been appointed for Thanamndi and Rajouri tehsils whereas Executive Secretary District Red Cross society has been asked to verify the prepared lists in Nowshera and Sunderbani tehsils. Many flash flood victims, social and religious leaders have appreciated this step taken by the Deputy Commissioner and said that this will help in providing relief to actual beneficiaries .As per rough estimate over 10000 houses got either fully or partially damaged in the district while 1967 cattle sheds were fully damaged and some 2682 suffered partial damages. 93 people were killed in the natural calamity including 66 in bus mishap in Nowshera tehsil who were marriage party members while 13 people including 12 members of a family were killed in a house collapse at Thanamndi. District has suffered a loss worth Rs 190 Crores to infrastructure while many roads were either damaged or washed away in the floods. Till today the state government has provided a relief of Rs 11.80 Crores while district administration has sought Rs 110 crores for immediate restoration of some PHE, PDD, PWD (R&B), Irrigation & Flood control schemes and some school buildings. "The demand for immediate release of Rs 110 crores has already been submitted to the State government. We have received Rs 11.80 Crore out of which Rs 6 Crores have been released to PHE, PDD, I&F etc while rest will be distributed among those who have been rendered homeless in this natural calamity" said Deputy Commissioner , Jatender Singh. |
